Uttarakhand is known as many things like its Culture,People,scenic Valleys and many more , but one important is Pilgrimage Tour (Chota Char Dham Yatra). It is know as world famous four pilgrimage sites Gangori,Yamunotri,Kedarnath and Badrinath. All the sites are situated in the foothill of great Himalaya. The tour usually begins from Yamunotri -Gangotri -Kedarnath and finally Badrinath.Thousands of the people visit these places every year to worship gods and goddess as every pilgrim site is dedicated to specific deity.
Yamunotri

Yamunotri is dedicated to the Goddess Yamuna who goes along the pilgrims to the high altitudes of the picturesque Rawai Valley.
Yamunotri is situated in Uttarkashi,Uttarakhand around 3293 mts from sea level and 30 kms from Uttarkashi, surrounded by mountains on all sides and lies in close proximity of the Indo-China border.
The River Yamuna originates from the Yamunotri glacier, situated at 6,315 mts above sea level, and lies against a steep slope just below the top of the Kalind peak. From here Yamuna comes down into Saptarishi Kund and from there gushes southwards in a series of waterfalls. To the west of the Kalind Parbat is located Banderpoonch, which is a dominant mountain in central Himalayan area of Garhwal and divides the watershed of Yamuna from that of the Ganges. Coming out from Kalind Parbat, Yamuna is also known as Kalindi.

Gangotri is sacred hindu pilgrim on the banks of the river Bhagirathi and origin of River Ganges.It is the town in Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand state. It is situated at 3400 mts from sea level.
Gangotri is the origin of the River Ganges and seat of the goddess Ganga, Gangotri is one of the four sites in the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit in Uttarakhand.
The origin of the river is at Gaumukh set in the Gangotri glacier, where it is known as Bhagirathi , Gaumukh is about 19 kms trek from Gangotri. According to the Hindu mythology the Goddess Ganga descended when Lord Shiva released the mighty river from the locks of his hair after the Hard penance of Bhagirathi.The river acquires the name Ganga from Devprayag when Bhagirathi meets to river Alaknanda.
Kedarnath

Kedarnath is one of the sacred hindu pilgrimage dedicated to lord Shiva. It is located on the bank of Mandakini river in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand Inida at an altitude of 3584 mts above sea level.
It is one of the four sites in the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit in Uttarakhand and one the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India.The Kedarnath temple remain open for only 6-7 months due to its extreme weather conditions. The deities from Kedarnath temple are carried down to Ukhimath where the deity is worshiped for the next six months in winters. After reaching here one can see the snow capped mountains around the temple which makes this place very scenic and unique.

Badrinath is a hindu temple which is dedicated to lord Vishnu,and one of the four site of Chardham in india as well as chota chardham yatra.It is situated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand,India at an altitude of 3300 mts above sea level on the banks of Alaknanda river.
same like kedarnath to badrinath temple also remain open for 6 months due to its exreme weather condition like heavy snow fall in winter.It is also one of Panch Badri's amoung Yogadhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri, Bridha Badri and Adi Badri.
Lots of Devotees visit this famous and holy temple around the world which is lies betwen Nar and Narayan parvat(mountain).According to the Indian Mythology this temple was established by Adi Shankaracharya in the ninth century.
